DIAL-AN-ANGEL celebrates 41 years
On March 15, DIAL-AN-ANGEL celebrated 41 years of service to Australian families, businesses and overseas visitors. Founded in 1967 DIAL AN ANGEL grew quickly from a one person, one-telephone office to 11 offices nationwide, four of which are franchised. The parent company now employs 50 full-time staff with over 10,000 registered 'Angels' providing quality home and family care to tens of thousands of satisfied clients. We look forward to the next 41 years with great enthusiasm!

Diabetes Australia – The Great Australian Bite
The Great Australian Bite is a community participation event involving people and groups getting together throughout the month of April, sharing a bite to eat and supporting Diabetes Australia by making a tax-deductible donation. If you enjoy good food and great company, then register now to host a Great Australian Bite and have some fun with friends. Visit www.greataustralianbite.com.au for tips and ideas.

School holiday and emergency care
Don’t forget that we can provide Angels to help during the school holidays. Every Angel is interviewed personally and where State laws allow, Police clearances and 'Working with Children' Checks are undertaken. You can go to work feeling confident that your children are in safe and caring hands. Even at the last minute if your planned childcare arrangements fall apart, you don’t have to lose a day's work. DIAL-AN-ANGEL Emergency Care is as close as your phone. You can read more about our child care services here.

Delightful Destinations - Thredbo Valley, Snowy Mountains, New South Wales
Pender Lea Chalets are secluded, traditional Swiss-style chalets in gorgeous bush surrounds that give you the feeling of being close enough to the action, without always having to be in the thick of things. Read more here from TakeABreak.

Fit & Well – Walking is free
Unchecked obesity at a young age escalates into years of poor health, especially increasing the likelihood of diabetes and heart disease in later life. In addition, a major consequence of obesity in children is a lack of confidence and self-esteem. Unlike many other activities for children, walking and running are two of the most accessible and affordable forms of exercise for kids. All it takes is a good pair of runners and moving outdoors! Top Tips

Here are some rainy day tips for little ones:
• Create a comfy story reading spot with cushions in a partially screened off area.
• Tape a long piece of paper on the floor for a group crayon activity.
• Create “cubbyhouses” under tables with large sheets and add a picnic basket, a selection of picture books or a music CD.
• Use the weather as inspiration for arts and crafts. Paste confetti as raindrops, cotton wool as rain clouds, threads of white cotton as rain.
• For something more upbeat…why not have children’s disco and work off some of that energy.

March 2008

Welcome
This year just seems to be flying by us, as Easter has come and gone. Likewise, the past 41 years have flown for DIAL-AN-ANGEL. Over the years, we have had many people to thank for our success – hardworking and earnest Angels, loyal clients, friends and family. All have generously supported us through good times and bad.

The strategic plan for DIAL-AN-ANGEL was unveiled at our Annual Conference this month. All staff in the DIAL-AN-ANGEL team will be working hard towards accreditation and certification over the next 12 to 24 months. We will continue to source and recruit caring and experienced Angels. In line with our policy established in 1967, we will continue to provide a top quality service to our clients at realistic and affordable rates. My past five years as CEO have been exceptionally challenging and rewarding and I look forward to all that the future offers.

Until next month,
Danielle Robertson
CEO,
DIAL-AN-ANGEL Pty Limited
