Farm Day, Australia Wide - May 30-31
Imagine the delight on your child's face as they stroke a calf, pick up a warm egg from the hen house or see a cow being milked for the first time. These are just some of the wonderful encounters city families may experience on Farm Day. Farm Day aims to bridge the rural/city divide by offering a day of ‘fun, friendship and understanding'. Each city family is matched with a farming family providing an intimate insight into life on the land, the chance to ‘muck in' with the jobs on the farm and the opportunity to get up close to the animals. For those that have never seen cows being milked, sheep being shorn, fed the chooks or sat on a tractor, simply visit www.farmday.com.au and register your details.

You can go to work knowing that your children are in caring, competent hands. Fit & Well – Easter Fitness Tips
With childhood obesity on the rise, it may be time for us to rethink these Easter baskets. So here are some ideas for healthier Easter goodies that will still have your kids brimming with excitement:
Stuffed bunny - Instead of chocolate, make it a plush bunny. It will last longer, won't rot your child's teeth, and could be their new best friend.
Go dark - Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries). Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body. Better yet, give dark chocolate covered raisins or sultanas.
Bubbles - These soapy suds delight everyone, young and old. Your children will have as much fun chasing them as they have hunting for those elusive Easter eggs. And while they are doing all that chasing it’s a great way to stay fit!

Did you know Cleanaway (cleanaway.com.au) collects single use batteries and rechargeable batteries in flat packed boxes and you can drop single-use batteries at Ikea stores. Also try RecyclingNearYou.com.au to search for local battery recycling drop-offs. Every small action counts! Read more great tips here.

April 2009

Welcome
The days are getting shorter and the air becoming cooler as we settle into autumn. April is full of activities with children starting school holidays, Jewish Passover commencing and Mothers Day ahead of us in May. Just a reminder that the DIAL-AN-ANGEL office will be open everyday over the Easter break except Good Friday.

As an all-Australian and family-owned business I would like to make special mention of ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day goes beyond the anniversary of the landing on Gallipoli in 1915. It is the day we remember all Australians who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. We commemorate this event with special sadness as we remember those that went before us and those who continue peacekeeping around the world today. Their courage allows us to live in peace and freedom today. Lest we forget.

Until next time, travel safely,
