Dena Blackman established DIAL-AN-ANGEL® on 15 March 1967. No private agency existed at that time. Even the Government-subsidised "Emergency Housekeepers" maintained a minimum of nine months' waiting period for home-based assistance! The fledgling DIAL-AN-ANGEL office was established at Lindfield on Sydney's north shore. Since that time, the company has been recognised as Australia's leader in home and family care. It has become 'a household name - a family business‘ as four generations of Dena's family have been involved in its operation over four and a half decades. This was acknowledged in 2002 when DIAL-AN-ANGEL was awarded the Family Business Australia (NSW Family Business of the Year Award - 1st Generation). “We build the service to meet the need” became our motto.

In 2003 Danielle Robertson, Dena's third daughter, business partner and confidante assumed the role of CEO for the Pty Limited Group. After spending 17 years in the family business Danielle had made a significant impact on the company's development and encouraged expansion in her role as Financial Director. Dena will tell you that her role as confidante and 'sounding board' was priceless.

In her role, Danielle ensured that DIAL AN ANGEL has maintained its position as leader in this field of expertise. The group is decades ahead of any aspiring competitors. Our values remain as true today as they were in 1967.

Dena Blackman has remained involved with DIAL-AN-ANGEL as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Senior Consultant to the group. It is now more than four and a half decades since Dena envisaged the heavenly prospect of being able to 'dial' an angel. With her tremendous determination, dedication and hard work, Dena grew her dream from a small family-run home help company to the only national agency specialising in the provision of home and family care.

DIAL-AN-ANGEL provides Angels for housekeeping & home cleaning, gardening & home maintenance, nannying and babysitting, supervised contact visits, party help, aged care, in-home nursing, dementia, palliative and disability care in the home. A wide range of services are available to businesses such as medico legal reporting, employee work-life flexibility programs, and emergency care programs for children and seniors.
